Membership Card Scanner ‑Perkd vs WhatsApp & Helpdesk ‑ MyAlicefor Shopify (2026)
Membership Card Scanner ‑Perkd and WhatsApp & Helpdesk ‑ MyAlice are both Shopify apps designed to enhance the merchant's operational capabilities, but they address very different needs. Perkd focuses on streamlining in-store loyalty program management by allowing merchants to quickly identify customers via their membership cards at the Point of Sale (POS). MyAlice, on the other hand, aims to improve customer engagement and drive sales by integrating various messaging channels like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook into a unified helpdesk system. Perkd is geared towards brick-and-mortar stores with established loyalty programs, while MyAlice targets online retailers seeking to leverage conversational commerce and improve customer support through preferred messaging platforms. The core difference lies in their functionality. Perkd optimizes in-person customer identification and loyalty program integration at the POS using features like barcode scanning and customer data search. MyAlice centralizes communication from various messaging apps, allowing merchants to manage customer inquiries, send targeted campaigns (like abandoned cart recovery messages via WhatsApp), and even edit Shopify orders directly from the MyAlice interface. While both apps contribute to better customer relationships, Perkd's focus is on the in-store experience while MyAlice prioritizes online interactions and sales conversion.

Our Verdict
The choice between Membership Card Scanner ‑Perkd and WhatsApp & Helpdesk ‑ MyAlice depends heavily on the merchant's business model and priorities. If a merchant operates primarily in a physical store with a robust loyalty program, Perkd is the more suitable option. Its ability to quickly scan membership cards and retrieve customer information at the POS can significantly improve the in-store customer experience and loyalty program effectiveness.
However, for online retailers who prioritize customer engagement and sales conversion through messaging apps, MyAlice is the clear winner. Its multi-channel helpdesk, combined with features like WhatsApp broadcast campaigns and abandoned cart recovery, allows merchants to leverage conversational commerce and provide timely customer support, ultimately driving sales and improving customer retention. MyAlice is particularly beneficial for merchants already using or looking to consolidate their customer communications across various messaging platforms.
