Metafields Guru vs Releasit Cash on Delivery CODfor Shopify (2026)
Metafields Guru and Releasit Cash on Delivery COD are both Shopify apps aimed at improving store operations, but they cater to vastly different needs. Metafields Guru focuses on enhancing the storefront's data capabilities, allowing merchants to create and manage custom data fields (metafields) for products, variants, and other aspects of their store. This enables richer product descriptions, personalized shopping experiences, and improved data organization. Releasit Cash on Delivery COD, on the other hand, addresses a specific payment pain point: managing Cash on Delivery (COD) orders. It helps merchants reduce fraud, lower failed deliveries, and increase prepaid orders through features like COD fees, partial payments, and WhatsApp OTP verification. The primary difference lies in their functionality. Metafields Guru empowers merchants to customize their storefront's data structure and presentation, offering flexibility in displaying product information and creating unique shopping experiences. It’s best suited for stores needing granular control over product data. Releasit COD focuses on optimizing a specific payment method (COD) to improve profitability and reduce operational challenges associated with it. It's ideal for stores that heavily rely on COD payments, particularly in regions where COD is prevalent, and face issues with fake orders and high return-to-origin (RTO) rates. The shared category of 'Operations' is broad but reflects how each app aims to streamline different aspects of running a Shopify store.

Our Verdict
The choice between Metafields Guru and Releasit Cash on Delivery COD hinges entirely on the specific needs of the Shopify merchant. If the goal is to enhance product descriptions, personalize the storefront, and manage data effectively, Metafields Guru is the clear choice. Its focus on metafield creation, management, and display makes it ideal for stores that prioritize rich product information and custom shopping experiences.
However, if the primary concern is managing Cash on Delivery orders, reducing fraud, and minimizing failed deliveries, Releasit Cash on Delivery COD is the better option. Its features specifically target the challenges associated with COD payments, offering tools for verification, partial payments, and conditional rules. For merchants not significantly using COD or not facing issues related to it, Releasit COD offers little value. Metafields Guru's broader applicability to data management makes it a potentially useful tool for a wider range of Shopify stores.
