Our Verdict
For merchants aiming to deeply customize their storefront using data-driven elements, manage product specifications in detail, or migrate data between stores, Metafields Guru is the clear choice. Its robust feature set and overwhelmingly positive reviews suggest a reliable and effective solution for metafield management. The browser extension adds another level of convenience for store admins.
RemPro: Product View History is suitable for merchants seeking a simple and quick way to improve user experience by displaying recently viewed products. However, its lower rating and limited reviews raise concerns about its reliability and customer satisfaction. It's a niche solution that may benefit stores with a high volume of product browsing, but merchants should carefully consider the limited features and potential risks compared to the more versatile and established Metafields Guru.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use for someone with no coding experience?
While both apps claim to be user-friendly, RemPro's integration directly within the theme editor suggests it might be slightly easier to set up initially. However, Metafields Guru's Excel-like editor and browser extension aims to ease the management of metafields for users of all skill levels.
Can I use both apps together on my Shopify store?
Yes, theoretically, both apps can be used together. Metafields Guru manages the underlying data structure, while RemPro focuses on a specific UI element. They don't directly conflict, though the value of RemPro will be higher on stores without significant data customization.
Does Metafields Guru display the recently viewed products, similar to RemPro?
Metafields Guru does not have a built-in feature to automatically track and display recently viewed products. However, metafields could theoretically be used to create a similar functionality through custom coding or by integrating with other apps, but would require advanced usage.
Is Metafields Guru just for products or can metafields also be applied to collections?
The description states it can apply to the 'storefront', which may include collections, but it doesn't explicitly say collections are a feature. It's best to assume that it primarily focuses on product metafields unless the app's documentation states otherwise.
Does RemPro offer any analytics or reporting on which products are most viewed?
Based on the provided information, RemPro does not offer any analytics or reporting features. Its sole purpose is to display the product view history to the customer.
