MirrARly Makeup & Cosmetics vs Picture It: AR & Art Previewsfor Shopify (2026)
MirrARly Makeup & Cosmetics and Picture It: AR & Art Previews, while both categorized under Shopify's 3D/AR/VR apps, target vastly different merchant niches and offer distinct functionalities. MirrARly focuses on providing a virtual try-on experience for cosmetics, using AI to analyze faces and overlay makeup products accurately. It aims to enhance customer engagement and drive sales within the beauty and cosmetics industry. Conversely, Picture It: AR & Art Previews caters specifically to art galleries, art stores, and decor shops, enabling customers to visualize artwork in augmented reality, either on their walls or in virtual showrooms. It emphasizes boosting customer confidence in purchasing art by allowing them to preview how it will look in their space. The primary difference lies in the type of product visualization offered. MirrARly utilizes AI-powered face analysis to enable virtual try-ons for makeup, requiring sophisticated algorithms to render realistic makeup applications. Picture It, on the other hand, focuses on displaying art in 3D within real-world or virtual environments, leveraging augmented reality technology to provide a realistic representation of the artwork's size, style, and framing. While both apps aim to improve conversion rates through immersive experiences, they address different needs within their respective market segments. Our Verdict
For merchants selling cosmetics and makeup, MirrARly Makeup & Cosmetics *could* be a viable option if the merchant is willing to experiment with a product that has no user reviews. However, the lack of reviews and a zero rating raise serious concerns about its functionality and reliability. Merchants should proceed with extreme caution and thoroughly test the app before implementing it store-wide. Picture It: AR & Art Previews is the clear choice for art galleries, art stores, and decor shops seeking to enhance the customer experience by allowing them to preview artwork in augmented reality. Its established positive reputation, numerous reviews, and specific features tailored to the art industry make it a much safer and more effective option. Due to the extremely low confidence in MirrARly, it's nearly impossible to recommend without further proof of functionality and reviews.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, Picture It likely has a simpler setup due to its automated features like dimension import and auto-framing. MirrARly's setup likely involves calibrating the AI for accurate facial recognition, which could be more complex.
Which app is more likely to drive conversions?
Picture It has demonstrated success with its 5/5 rating and 35 reviews. MirrARly is untested and its effectiveness is not proven.
Does either app require 3D modeling skills?
Picture It explicitly states that no 3D models or coding are required. While MirrARly doesn't mention 3D modeling, the AI-driven makeup overlay suggests that complex algorithms are used, potentially managed by the app without requiring the merchant's technical expertise.
How do these apps handle different product variations?
Picture It automatically imports variant styles. MirrARly allows you to customize makeup shades and finishes live. Both offer ways to customize the look of their respective products.
Can both apps be used for products other than cosmetics or art?
While technically possible, MirrARly's AI is specifically designed for facial makeup application, making it unsuitable for other product categories. Picture It could potentially be adapted for other products that benefit from AR previews in a room, but it's optimized for art and decor.
