Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney vs Penny Blackfor Shopify (2026)
Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney and Penny Black represent fundamentally different approaches to Shopify marketing in 2026. Shopney focuses on driving mobile app adoption, presumably by showcasing banner promotions and incentives within the Shopify store itself. Its strong 5/5 rating with 44 reviews suggests users find it effective and user-friendly. It likely appeals to merchants heavily invested in, or planning to invest in, a native mobile app experience. Penny Black, on the other hand, takes a more tangible approach, enabling merchants to personalize physical marketing inserts included with customer orders. Penny Black directly connects to Shopify to personalize inserts based on customer data and allows for tracking of insert performance. This is in stark contrast to Shopney, which aims to convert website visitors into mobile app users. While Penny Black boasts features aimed at increasing customer engagement and revenue post-purchase, its current 0/5 rating with no reviews presents a significant risk to merchants considering adoption. The lack of social proof makes it difficult to assess its reliability or effectiveness compared to the more established Shopney.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to boost mobile app downloads and are confident in the user experience of their app, Mobile App Banner - Shopney is the clear choice given its strong rating and existing user base. The app is focused on digital marketing and aims to increase mobile sales. Penny Black, while promising in its approach to personalized physical marketing inserts, carries significant risk due to its lack of reviews and zero rating.
Penny Black may be suitable for highly risk-tolerant merchants willing to be early adopters and provide feedback, particularly those deeply invested in physical goods and wanting to leverage post-purchase customer engagement with tangible marketing. However, given the unknown quality and reliability, most merchants should wait for more reviews and a higher rating before considering Penny Black.
