Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney vs Refersion: Affiliate Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney and Refersion: Affiliate Marketing, while both categorized under 'Marketing - Other' on Shopify, cater to fundamentally different merchant needs. Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney focuses on driving app adoption, a mobile-first marketing strategy where a banner encourages website visitors to download the shop's mobile app. Refersion: Affiliate Marketing, on the other hand, empowers merchants to build and manage affiliate marketing programs, rewarding external partners for driving sales. The key difference lies in their target audiences and marketing channels: Shopney centers on mobile app users, while Refersion leverages the networks and reach of external affiliates. The number of reviews reflects the relative maturity and adoption rates of each app. Refersion, with significantly more reviews (488) than Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney (44), likely indicates a broader user base and longer presence in the Shopify app store. While Shopney boasts a perfect 5/5 rating, the small number of reviews suggests that the rating might not be as statistically significant as Refersion's 4.7/5. The choice between these two apps hinges on whether the merchant prioritizes mobile app growth or affiliate marketing as a core marketing strategy.

Our Verdict
For merchants heavily invested in mobile commerce and looking to boost their app downloads and usage, Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney is likely the more suitable choice. It directly addresses the need for promoting their app to existing website visitors. Conversely, if a merchant aims to expand their marketing reach through partnerships and is willing to manage an affiliate program, Refersion: Affiliate Marketing is the better option. It's ideal for businesses seeking to tap into new customer segments through affiliate networks and reward performance-based marketing efforts.
Ultimately, the decision depends on the merchant's overall marketing strategy and priorities. While Shopney may seem appealing due to its perfect rating, Refersion's larger user base suggests a more established and widely used solution. Merchants should carefully consider their resources, target audience, and marketing goals before making a choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and manage?
Without more information, it's difficult to say definitively. However, Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney, focused solely on banner creation and display, likely has a simpler initial setup. Refersion requires managing affiliate partners, tracking performance, and handling payouts, suggesting a potentially more complex setup and ongoing management.
Which app is more cost-effective for a small business?
Determining cost-effectiveness depends on the apps' pricing models (which are not provided) and the business's specific needs. Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney might be more cost-effective if the primary goal is simply to encourage app downloads. Refersion's cost will be tied to affiliate performance, making it more variable.
Which app is better for increasing customer lifetime value?
Both apps can indirectly contribute to increased customer lifetime value. Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney can lead to greater app engagement and, consequently, increased purchases. Refersion can acquire new customers through affiliates, some of whom may become long-term, loyal customers.
Which app is better for brand awareness?
Refersion: Affiliate Marketing is likely better for directly boosting brand awareness, as affiliate partners can expose the brand to their existing audiences. Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney primarily targets existing website visitors, so its impact on overall brand awareness is likely smaller.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, in theory, these apps can be used together, although their functionalities are distinct. A merchant could use Refersion to acquire new customers through affiliates and then use Mobile App Banner ‑ Shopney to encourage those new customers to download the app for a better mobile shopping experience. However, this would require a more complex marketing strategy.
