Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to optimize their in-house inventory management and labeling processes, MS Barcode Labels & Generator is the clear choice. Its comprehensive features for barcode and SKU generation, along with direct printing capabilities and Stocky integration, make it a powerful tool for streamlining operations. However, for merchants primarily focused on driving foot traffic to their brick-and-mortar stores and enhancing their local presence, Omnium Maps provides a simple yet effective solution. Its Google Maps integration and easy location management are ideal for businesses seeking to improve store visibility and attract more customers.
Given the significant difference in review count (168 vs. 20), MS Barcode Labels & Generator may be more widely adopted and potentially more thoroughly vetted by the Shopify merchant community at large. A higher number of reviews can indicate a more robust and reliable app.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a completely online store?
Neither app is ideally suited for a solely online store. MS Barcode Labels & Generator might have marginal use for internal product organization, but its core functionality revolves around physical retail. Omnium Maps is irrelevant for a store without physical locations.
Does MS Barcode Labels & Generator handle serialized inventory tracking?
The description doesn't explicitly mention serialized inventory tracking. While it generates barcodes and SKUs, the app's capabilities regarding tracking individual, serialized items would need to be confirmed through direct investigation.
Can I use Omnium Maps if I don't have a Google My Business listing?
While having a Google My Business listing is highly recommended for maximizing visibility, Omnium Maps can still function as a store locator. However, without a Google My Business listing, customers may find it harder to discover your stores organically through Google Search.
Is MS Barcode Labels & Generator compatible with all printers?
The description states the app prints labels 'using any printer.' This suggests broad compatibility, but it's always advisable to test with your specific printer model to ensure optimal performance, as some older or less common printers might present compatibility issues.
Does Omnium Maps offer real-time traffic data or directions?
The description focuses on store location display and doesn't explicitly mention real-time traffic data or turn-by-turn directions. While Google Maps itself provides these features, Omnium Maps primarily serves as an integration point for embedding maps with store locations into the Shopify store.
