MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order vs SMART Checkout Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order and SMART Checkout Rules both operate within the Shopify Checkout category but address fundamentally different merchant needs. MultiVariants focuses on facilitating bulk ordering of product variants, likely appealing to merchants who sell products with numerous options (e.g., apparel, electronics with variations) and want to encourage larger order quantities. SMART Checkout Rules, on the other hand, empowers merchants to customize and control the checkout experience itself, tailoring payment, shipping, and discount options based on various conditions to optimize conversions and manage risk. The primary distinction lies in their purpose: MultiVariants enhances product selection and order volume, while SMART Checkout Rules optimizes the checkout funnel. While MultiVariants likely simplifies the process of adding multiple variants to the cart, SMART Checkout Rules provides granular control over the checkout flow, allowing for conditional logic to dictate which options are presented to the customer. Therefore, they likely serve different segments of the Shopify merchant ecosystem, with limited overlap in their core functionality.
