MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order vs Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsellfor Shopify (2026)
MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order and Upcart—Cart Drawer Cart Upsell both aim to improve the checkout experience on Shopify, but they approach the problem from drastically different angles. MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order focuses on streamlining bulk orders with variant selections, suggesting a specialized function for merchants selling products with numerous variations. Upcart, on the other hand, is a comprehensive cart drawer solution designed to increase Average Order Value (AOV) and reduce cart abandonment. It provides features like in-cart upsells, cross-sells, and customizable designs, targeting merchants looking to enhance the overall shopping experience within the cart itself. Upcart positions itself as more than just a basic cart drawer, emphasizing its ability to transform the cart into a revenue-generating touchpoint. This is supported by its features like custom templates using HTML, CSS, and JSX, and incentives such as rewards and free shipping goals. MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order, although having a perfect rating, has a smaller review base, which might indicate it's a newer app or serves a more niche market. Upcart's larger number of reviews suggests wider adoption and possibly a broader appeal among Shopify merchants seeking cart optimization.

Our Verdict
If your primary need is to simplify bulk orders and efficiently manage products with multiple variants, MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order may be the better choice, especially given its perfect rating. However, with a smaller review base, its overall stability and long-term support are less certain than Upcart's. If you're looking to maximize revenue through upsells, cross-sells, and a highly customizable cart experience, particularly if you operate in fashion, food & beverage, or beauty, Upcart is the stronger option despite its slightly lower rating. The trade-off is choosing between a highly specialized tool and a more comprehensive solution that impacts the entire cart experience.
Given the features of Upcart, the app is much better positioned to meet more merchants’ needs around AOV and abandoned cart recovery. It would be the better recommendation for most shops.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use for a non-technical user?
While MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order's simplicity might suggest ease of use, Upcart's feature set and design focus imply a user-friendly interface. However, the customizability through HTML, CSS, and JSX might require some technical expertise to fully leverage.
Which app is better for increasing Average Order Value (AOV)?
Upcart is explicitly designed to increase AOV through in-cart upsells, cross-sells, rewards, and free shipping goals. MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order doesn't directly address AOV improvement.
Which app is better for reducing cart abandonment?
Upcart is better for reducing cart abandonment due to its sticky slide cart and in-cart incentives. While MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order may indirectly influence it by simplifying the ordering process, it's not its primary focus.
Which app offers more design flexibility?
Upcart offers significantly more design flexibility with custom templates using HTML, CSS, and JSX. MultiVariants ‑ Bulk Order doesn't mention design customization.
Is it possible to use both apps together?
Potentially, but careful consideration is needed to avoid conflicting functionalities or a cluttered user experience. If variant selection or bulk orders are common enough to warrant a dedicated solution alongside a robust cart drawer experience, it may be worthwhile testing their compatibility. However, a simpler approach to achieve both functions will be preferable.
