Newr vs Thrive Inventory Managementfor Shopify (2026)
Newr and Thrive Inventory Management are both Shopify apps in the Inventory category, but they cater to very different needs. Newr is a focused application specifically designed to automate the management of a store's "New Arrivals" collection. It aims to simplify the process of adding and removing products based on their publication date, appealing to merchants who want a hands-off approach to showcasing their latest offerings. Its strength lies in its simplicity and targeted functionality, saving merchants time on manual collection management. However, it has very few reviews which may indicate its newness or lack of popularity. Thrive Inventory Management, on the other hand, is a comprehensive inventory management solution for Shopify stores. It aims to provide merchants with robust tools for tracking stock levels, forecasting demand, managing purchase orders, and generating reports. It caters to merchants who need advanced inventory control across multiple channels and require in-depth insights into their inventory performance. Thrive Inventory Management offers features such as barcode scanning, AI assistance for PO and invoice logging, and multi-channel syncing, making it a more complex but potentially more valuable tool for larger or more sophisticated businesses.

Our Verdict
For smaller Shopify stores or those with limited inventory needs, Newr might be a good starting point if they are simply looking for a way to automate their new arrivals collection. Its simplicity and focused functionality could save time. However, the very low number of reviews makes it a risky choice.
Larger Shopify stores with complex inventory requirements would likely benefit more from Thrive Inventory Management. Its comprehensive feature set, including real-time reports, barcode scanning, and multi-channel syncing, offers the tools needed to manage inventory efficiently and gain valuable insights. The higher rating and larger number of reviews suggest a more established and reliable app. Thrive would be recommended to stores actively struggling with inventory spreadsheets or experiencing stockouts/overselling issues.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Newr is likely easier to set up and use due to its very focused purpose and limited feature set. Thrive Inventory Management, with its comprehensive features, will require more initial setup and learning.
Can both apps integrate with other Shopify apps?
While not explicitly stated for Newr, it's likely it focuses on internal Shopify data. Thrive Inventory Management mentions integrations with multiple Shopify accounts and POS platforms, indicating broader integration capabilities.
Which app is better for preventing stockouts?
Thrive Inventory Management, with its features like demand forecasting and automated reordering, is much better suited for preventing stockouts. Newr has no features for preventing stockouts.
If I only sell digital products, is either app useful?
Neither app is likely well-suited for purely digital product businesses. Thrive Inventory Management is intended for physical inventory tracking. Newr uses the publication date to classify products, so adding a 'new' digital product will be the limit of the app's functionality.
Which app is more future-proof for a growing business?
Thrive Inventory Management is more future-proof. As a business grows and its inventory needs become more complex, Thrive's comprehensive features will be more valuable. Newr's utility may diminish as inventory complexity increases.
