Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery vs Puco Checkout Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery and Puco Checkout Rules are both highly-rated Shopify apps (4.9/5) focused on checkout customization. However, their core functionalities cater to different merchant needs. Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery, with its higher number of reviews (139), appears to be primarily focused on optimizing and controlling the Cash on Delivery (COD) payment method. This implies features like COD fee management, availability based on customer location or cart value, and potentially COD order verification to reduce returns. Puco Checkout Rules, while also having a high rating, has fewer reviews (56), suggesting a more niche application centered around broader checkout rule configurations. Puco Checkout Rules likely allows merchants to define rules impacting various checkout aspects beyond just COD, such as payment gateway availability, shipping options based on product attributes or customer data, and even displaying conditional messages or prompts. The difference lies in the specialization: Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery is COD-centric, while Puco Checkout Rules offers more generalized checkout control and flexibility. Therefore, merchants seeking refined COD management should lean towards Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery, whereas those requiring complex and diverse checkout rule implementations might find Puco Checkout Rules a better fit. The number of reviews is a notable difference. Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery having significantly more reviews suggests a wider user base and potentially a more established presence in the COD-focused app market. This larger user base can translate to more readily available community support and potentially more bug fixes and feature updates over time, depending on the developers' responsiveness.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing their Cash on Delivery process – reducing failed deliveries, managing COD fees effectively based on location or cart value, and improving the overall COD customer experience – Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery seems to be the superior choice. Its higher number of reviews suggests a more proven track record in this specific area.
However, if the need extends beyond COD and requires more comprehensive control over the entire checkout flow, including payment gateway display based on customer attributes, dynamic shipping option adjustments, or advanced conditional messaging, Puco Checkout Rules likely offers the necessary flexibility. It’s better suited for businesses with complex checkout requirements that go beyond simple COD management.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without access to the app interfaces, it's impossible to definitively say. However, if Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery truly focuses solely on COD, its setup might be simpler than Puco Checkout Rules, which appears to require defining more complex rules.
Which app offers better customer support?
This is difficult to assess without further data. The review count might suggest Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery has a more mature support system, but it doesn't guarantee better quality support. Ideally, check app store reviews for mentions of support responsiveness and helpfulness.
Can Puco Checkout Rules handle COD fee management?
Potentially, if its rule engine allows for setting conditions based on the payment method chosen and applying fees accordingly. However, it might not offer the same level of COD-specific features as Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery.
Does Nex Advanced Cash on Delivery offer any non-COD related checkout functionalities?
Based on its name and assumed positioning, it is unlikely to offer significant non-COD checkout functionalities. Its strength lies in its specialization.
Which app is more likely to be updated frequently?
While the number of reviews can sometimes indicate app maturity and continued development, it's not a guarantee. Checking the app's changelog in the Shopify App Store (if available) is the best way to determine update frequency.
