Notifications by Modd Apps vs OrderAlertsfor Shopify (2026)
Notifications by Modd Apps and OrderAlerts both aim to streamline workflows through automated notifications, but they cater to different Shopify merchants and offer vastly different functionalities. Notifications by Modd Apps is a comprehensive automation tool designed for complex scenarios. It allows sending customizable emails and files based on diverse shop events, updating store objects with tags and metafields, and implementing intricate logic using Liquid. OrderAlerts, on the other hand, is a more focused app specifically designed for routing order alerts to relevant staff members based on order tags. Its primary function is to reduce the administrative workload by automatically notifying the correct personnel of new orders. Notifications by Modd Apps excels in flexibility and customization, making it suitable for merchants requiring sophisticated automation processes beyond simple order notifications. Its key strengths lie in its ability to integrate with various systems via FTP, update store objects, and utilize Liquid for advanced conditional logic. OrderAlerts stands out for its ease of use and straightforward approach to order routing, making it an attractive option for merchants primarily concerned with streamlining order fulfillment by ensuring the right staff members are promptly notified. However, the lack of reviews and a 0/5 rating raise significant concerns about its reliability and functionality in 2026.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a comprehensive automation solution with the capability to handle complex logic, integrate with external systems via FTP, and update store objects dynamically, Notifications by Modd Apps is the clear choice, assuming its positive reviews reflect consistent performance. Its extensive feature set and Liquid support provide unparalleled flexibility. However, merchants should be prepared for a potentially steeper learning curve to fully utilize its capabilities.
OrderAlerts is a better fit for smaller businesses or those solely focused on streamlining order fulfillment by ensuring relevant staff members are promptly notified. Its simplicity and tag-based routing make it easy to implement. However, the lack of user reviews and a zero rating are significant red flags. Merchants should exercise extreme caution and thoroughly investigate before committing to OrderAlerts, potentially looking for alternative apps with more established track records.
