OKURU Order SMS Notifications vs Ultimate Custom Order Statusfor Shopify (2026)
Both OKURU Order SMS Notifications and Ultimate Custom Order Status aim to improve order tracking and customer communication on Shopify, but they approach this goal from different angles. OKURU, judging from its name, focuses primarily on SMS notifications related to order updates. Ultimate Custom Order Status, on the other hand, emphasizes highly customizable order statuses that reflect a merchant's unique workflow, along with real-time updates via email, SMS, and WhatsApp. While both apps share the 'Order tracking' category on Shopify, Ultimate Custom Order Status seems to target merchants with more complex order fulfillment processes that require a wider range of status updates beyond basic notifications. OKURU's strength lies in its simplicity and likely specialized SMS delivery performance, assuming the name reflects its core functionality. It's likely a good fit for stores that primarily need basic order notifications delivered quickly and reliably via SMS. Ultimate Custom Order Status appeals to merchants who prioritize highly granular control over their order workflow representation and want to offer customers detailed insight into each stage of production or fulfillment. The lack of code requirement makes it appealing to smaller shops without technical expertise.

Our Verdict
For merchants who need a straightforward SMS-based solution for order notifications, OKURU Order SMS Notifications appears to be a suitable option, despite having limited reviews. However, the lack of substantial review data makes it difficult to definitively assess its performance. Its simplicity might be its biggest strength. Ultimate Custom Order Status is better suited for merchants with intricate order fulfillment processes. The ability to define unlimited custom statuses and provide updates through multiple channels like email and WhatsApp offers a more comprehensive tracking experience for customers.
While Ultimate Custom Order Status has only one review, its explicit focus on custom workflows, real-time updates across multiple channels, and code-free setup suggests it would be the superior choice for businesses requiring granular control and detailed customer communication. Merchants should consider their specific needs and priorities before deciding. It is also advisable to test both apps using their free trial options if available, or request a demo of their service.
