OKURU Order SMS Notifications vs WhatsAppfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, Shopify merchants choosing an order tracking notification app face a decision between OKURU Order SMS Notifications and the official WhatsApp app from Meta. OKURU Order SMS Notifications focuses on SMS notifications, while the WhatsApp app leverages WhatsApp for order updates. OKURU, despite having fewer reviews, boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on 8 reviews. The WhatsApp app, in contrast, currently has no ratings or reviews at all, reflecting either very recent release or potentially a product with significant issues during its initial launch. The WhatsApp app's value proposition centers around leveraging the ubiquity of WhatsApp for customer communication and aims to reduce support tickets by providing automated updates, ultimately enhancing customer relationships using interactive features of WhatsApp. OKURU's key functionality is not explicitly stated beyond providing SMS order notifications, which limits a direct feature-by-feature comparison based on the provided data.

Our Verdict
Currently, with no ratings or reviews, the WhatsApp app is a riskier choice despite being an official Meta app. Merchants should proceed cautiously and monitor user feedback closely. The OKURU Order SMS Notifications app, although with a small sample size, offers a perfect rating, suggesting it effectively delivers SMS order notifications. However, the lack of feature details makes direct comparison difficult. If your customer base heavily uses WhatsApp, the official app may be worth exploring *after* it accumulates sufficient positive reviews. For merchants prioritizing proven reliability and basic SMS notifications, OKURU might be a safer starting point, pending further information on its specific functionalities and cost-effectiveness.
