One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU vs SMART Checkout Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU and SMART Checkout Rules, while both operating within the Shopify Checkout category, target vastly different merchant needs. Zipify OCU focuses on increasing Average Order Value (AOV) through AI-powered upsells and cross-sells throughout the entire customer journey. It provides a complete solution with pre-built funnels and A/B testing, aiming to boost revenue without requiring coding knowledge. SMART Checkout Rules, conversely, prioritizes control and customization of the checkout experience. It enables merchants to tailor payment, shipping, and discount options based on flexible conditions, optimizing the checkout flow for specific customer segments or risk profiles. The core difference lies in their objectives. Zipify OCU aims to maximize revenue by proactively suggesting additional products or upgrades, while SMART Checkout Rules aims to streamline and customize the checkout process based on pre-defined business logic. While both apps can improve conversions, Zipify OCU does so through incentivization, and SMART Checkout Rules does so through reduction of friction and tailored offerings. The user experience they provide also contrasts sharply: Zipify leans heavily into pre-built AI and funnel tools, while SMART Checkout Rules focuses on condition creation and checkout rule management.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on rapidly increasing AOV and who value a hands-off, AI-driven approach to upselling, One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU is the clear choice. Its pre-built funnels and A/B testing provide a quick and effective way to boost revenue without requiring extensive technical knowledge. Its 'pay only for what you earn' model provides a significant value proposition.
However, for merchants requiring granular control over the checkout experience, particularly those dealing with B2B transactions, international orders, or high-risk situations, SMART Checkout Rules is the more suitable option. Its ability to customize payment, shipping, and discount options based on complex conditions provides the flexibility needed to optimize the checkout flow for specific customer segments and business requirements.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU is generally easier to set up, with its focus on pre-built funnels and AI-powered recommendations. SMART Checkout Rules requires more configuration and understanding of your specific checkout requirements.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Yes, it's technically possible, but you'll need to carefully consider how the apps interact. One app modifies checkout based on customer characteristics or risk, and the other attempts to upsell the customer on their way to purchase. Co-ordinating the order and presentation of these two tools would require careful planning.
Which app is better for Shopify Plus merchants?
One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU specifically mentions native upsells and order bumps for Shopify Plus, making it potentially more advantageous for Plus merchants looking to optimize the checkout experience with upsells. SMART Checkout Rules' benefits apply to all Shopify plans where custom checkout logic is valuable.
Which app is more focused on preventing fraudulent transactions?
SMART Checkout Rules is better suited for preventing potentially fraudulent transactions by allowing you to block or hide payment methods based on various conditions. One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU does not directly address fraud prevention.
If I'm on a tight budget, which app is the better choice?
One Click Upsell ‑ Zipify OCU's 'pay only for what you earn' model potentially makes it the better choice for merchants on a tight budget. The cost is directly tied to the revenue generated, minimizing upfront investment. The pricing of SMART Checkout Rules is not available.
