OneGuard Age / ID Verification vs Subunofor Shopify (2026)
OneGuard Age / ID Verification and Subuno, while both listed in the 'Fraud' category on the Shopify app store, address fundamentally different aspects of online retail risk. OneGuard focuses on age and identity verification, specifically catering to merchants selling age-restricted goods who need to comply with legal requirements. It integrates post-checkout to verify customer identities and prevent sales to underage individuals, using document verification from over 200 countries. Subuno, in contrast, is a fraud prevention platform designed to detect and prevent credit card fraud and chargebacks. It automates order screening, enabling merchants to flag, hold, or cancel suspicious orders based on customizable rules and risk scores. Subuno distinguishes itself by offering a comprehensive suite of tools for fraud detection, including automated fraud checks, manual review tools, and integrated third-party data analytics. Its focus is on protecting merchants from financial losses due to fraudulent transactions. OneGuard’s strength lies in its specialization in age verification and compliance, making it a niche solution for a specific segment of merchants. Subuno aims for broad applicability by providing a multi-faceted fraud prevention platform that integrates with existing processes and allows for customization without coding. Deciding between them depends entirely on the merchant's primary concern: regulatory compliance regarding age-restricted products versus credit card fraud prevention. They are not competing solutions for the same problem, despite existing in the same general app category.
