Our Verdict
OpenFiskal is the clear choice for Shopify POS merchants operating in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland who need to comply with KassenSichV and RKSV regulations. Its features are specifically tailored to meet these requirements, making it an essential tool for businesses in the DACH region. Snap Locator, however, is suitable for businesses with physical stores anywhere in the world that want to improve their online presence and drive traffic to their brick-and-mortar locations. If a business isn't concerned about fiscal compliance in the DACH region, OpenFiskal is likely irrelevant to them. Snap Locator fills a completely different, and more broadly applicable, niche.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
While OpenFiskal has positive reviews, its setup is likely more complex due to the intricacies of fiscal regulations. Snap Locator, with its CSV bulk import and integration with mapping services, likely offers a simpler setup process.
Which app is more expensive?
Pricing information is unavailable. However, given OpenFiskal's specialized features and regulatory focus, it may command a higher price compared to Snap Locator.
Can Snap Locator help with regulatory compliance?
No. Snap Locator focuses on location discovery and does not offer any features related to fiscal compliance or regulatory requirements.
Does OpenFiskal work outside of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland?
Based on the description, OpenFiskal is designed specifically for the DACH region and its fiscal regulations. It is unlikely to be useful or compliant in other countries.
Which app is better for a small business with a single store?
For a single store in the DACH region requiring fiscal compliance, OpenFiskal is essential. If the store is located elsewhere, or compliance isn't an issue, Snap Locator could still be beneficial in helping customers find the store.
