OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS vs Storefolio ‑ store locatorfor Shopify (2026)
OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS and Storefolio ‑ store locator, while both categorized under 'Selling in person' on Shopify, cater to vastly different merchant needs. OpenFiskal is a highly specialized app focused on fiscal compliance for Shopify POS merchants operating in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region). Its core strength lies in providing a complete solution for KassenSichV and RKSV regulations, including secure receipt signing, automatic Z-reports, cash book management, and audit-ready data exports. Storefolio, on the other hand, is a generic directory-style widget designed to showcase store locations, brands, or partners. Storefolio focuses on providing an easy-to-setup and customizable widget for displaying store locations, brands, or partners with filtering capabilities. The lack of ratings or reviews suggests it's a newer app with limited user feedback. OpenFiskal's perfect 5/5 rating with 37 reviews indicates strong user satisfaction within its specific niche. The primary difference lies in their purpose: OpenFiskal ensures legal compliance for POS systems in specific European countries, while Storefolio offers a basic directory feature for showcasing physical presences. One solves a specific compliance requirement; the other aids store discoverability.

Our Verdict
For Shopify POS merchants operating in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland and requiring a solution for KassenSichV and RKSV compliance, OpenFiskal TSE & RKSV for POS is the clear choice. Its features are specifically designed to address the complex legal requirements of these regions, and its positive user reviews suggest a reliable and effective solution.
Storefolio ‑ store locator is suitable for merchants who simply want to display their store locations or partner information in a directory format. It offers a basic and customizable widget for this purpose. However, given the lack of reviews and a very generic feature set, its value proposition is unclear without more user feedback.
Common Questions
What is the main difference between OpenFiskal and Storefolio?
OpenFiskal handles fiscal compliance for POS systems in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, whereas Storefolio creates a store location directory.
Which app is easier to set up?
Storefolio claims to be easy to set up, but without user reviews it's hard to compare. OpenFiskal likely requires more configuration due to the complexity of fiscal regulations.
Does Storefolio offer any tax compliance features?
No, Storefolio does not offer any tax compliance features. It is solely focused on creating a directory of locations or partners.
Is OpenFiskal suitable for merchants outside of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland?
No, OpenFiskal is specifically designed for KassenSichV and RKSV regulations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. It is not suitable for merchants in other countries.
Which app is a better value for money?
It depends on the merchant's needs. If fiscal compliance in the DACH region is required, OpenFiskal provides clear value. If only a store directory is needed, Storefolio *might* be a lower-cost option, but its value is unproven.
