Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer vs Shopify Checkout Blocksfor Shopify (2026)
Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer and Shopify Checkout Blocks, while both appearing in the Checkout category of the Shopify app store, cater to drastically different merchant needs. Opus focuses on optimizing the cart experience *before* checkout to boost AOV and conversion rates, offering features like upsells, cross-sells, free gifts, and urgency timers that are accessible to all Shopify merchants. It's designed to be code-free and easy to use, aiming to transform the cart into a revenue-generating engine. Shopify Checkout Blocks, on the other hand, is geared towards Shopify Plus merchants and provides tools to customize the *post-checkout* experience, specifically the Thank You and Order Status pages. It goes beyond simple customization by offering features like custom order & shipping discounts and address validation, giving Shopify Plus merchants extended control over the checkout flow. The description emphasizes the ability to tailor the Thank You and Order Status pages with content blocks which regular Shopify stores lack. Because of its restriction to Shopify Plus, this app is not available to the general market of merchants.

Our Verdict
For the vast majority of Shopify merchants who are not on Shopify Plus, Opus Cart Upsell Cart Drawer is the clear choice. It provides accessible tools to significantly boost AOV and conversion rates through cart optimization, which is a fundamental goal for most online stores. Its focus on ease of use and code-free customization makes it accessible to merchants of all technical skill levels.
Shopify Checkout Blocks is specifically tailored for Shopify Plus merchants seeking greater control over the post-checkout experience. While customizing the Thank You and Order Status pages can enhance brand experience and customer satisfaction, it's a premium feature set within the Shopify Plus ecosystem and not applicable to the average Shopify store. Therefore, if you're not a Shopify Plus merchant, this app is not relevant to you.
