Order Management — Trackeasy vs Smart SMS Notificationfor Shopify (2026)
Order Management — Trackeasy and Smart SMS Notification, while both technically fitting into the 'Staff notifications' category on Shopify, cater to vastly different merchant needs. Trackeasy positions itself as a comprehensive internal order management system, focusing on streamlining order preparation, packing, and delivery processes *within* a business, particularly beneficial for businesses with physical inventory and internal teams like restaurants and warehouses. It prioritizes efficient internal workflow through real-time tracking, multi-device access, and customizable order stages. Smart SMS Notification, conversely, is designed for *external* communication, keeping customers informed about their order status via SMS. Its core value proposition revolves around automated notifications, though it relies on integration with external SMS providers, potentially adding complexity. Smart SMS Notification streamlines the process of SMS updates to customers. It does not track internal staff or processes.

Our Verdict
Order Management — Trackeasy is the clear winner for merchants needing robust internal order management and tracking, especially those with physical operations like restaurants, warehouses, or businesses with delivery teams. The multi-device support, customizable stages, and reporting features provide a comprehensive solution for streamlining internal processes. The 5/5 rating with 12 reviews suggests a high level of satisfaction among users.
Smart SMS Notification, while potentially valuable, is a riskier choice due to the lack of reviews and the dependence on external SMS providers. It's only suitable for merchants specifically seeking SMS notification functionality and willing to manage the complexities of integrating with a third-party SMS service. Given the choice, Trackeasy offers more immediate and tangible benefits for the vast majority of merchants.
Common Questions
Does Order Management — Trackeasy send SMS notifications to customers?
Based on the description, Order Management — Trackeasy focuses on internal order management and doesn't explicitly mention customer SMS notifications. Its primary aim is to improve internal workflow, not external communication.
Can Smart SMS Notification be used without an SMS provider?
No, Smart SMS Notification requires integration with Gupshup, Pinnacle, or Vconnect. Without setting up an account and obtaining API credentials from one of these providers, the app cannot function.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While Smart SMS Notification claims to have a simple setup, the requirement for SMS provider integration introduces a potential point of complexity. Order Management — Trackeasy, while potentially having a steeper learning curve for advanced features, likely offers a more self-contained experience once configured. Given the lack of reviews for Smart SMS Notification, it is not possible to provide a definitive answer.
Which app is better for a restaurant owner?
Order Management — Trackeasy is the better choice for a restaurant owner. Its features like tracking order preparation in the kitchen, setting new order alarms, and managing multiple order stages directly address the challenges of restaurant operations. Smart SMS Notification could complement it but isn't a replacement for internal order management.
What are the potential drawbacks of using Smart SMS Notification?
The potential drawbacks of Smart SMS Notification include the reliance on external SMS providers (which may incur costs and require management), the lack of reviews (making it difficult to assess reliability and user satisfaction), and the limited functionality compared to Order Management — Trackeasy.
