OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification vs TrustDecision Fraud Preventionfor Shopify (2026)
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification and TrustDecision Fraud Prevention both aim to reduce losses for Shopify merchants, but approach the problem from different angles. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification directly targets Cash on Delivery (COD) fraud, especially in regions where COD is prevalent and often abused. It uses OTP verification via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email to confirm orders before fulfillment, primarily focusing on reducing Returned To Origin (RTO) rates and fake orders. The app also includes order status updates via WhatsApp/SMS. TrustDecision Fraud Prevention, on the other hand, takes a broader approach to fraud prevention. It analyzes all orders, labels them as Accept, Review, or Reject based on fraud risk, and offers chargeback protection. It aims to prevent chargebacks and reduce false declines of legitimate orders.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants primarily dealing with Cash on Delivery orders, especially in regions with high rates of COD fraud, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification appears to be the more suitable solution. Its focus on OTP verification via WhatsApp, SMS, and Email directly addresses the issue of fake orders and RTO. It also integrates customer communication, improving the overall customer experience. TrustDecision Fraud Prevention, while potentially useful, is a broader solution for merchants concerned about all types of fraud, regardless of the payment method. It might be overkill for merchants solely focused on COD fraud, though it offers valuable chargeback protection. Given the higher review count, although still low, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is also likely more tested and mature.
