OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification vs Zumigo DeRiskify OrderRiskfor Shopify (2026)
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification and Zumigo DeRiskify OrderRisk both aim to reduce fraud, but they tackle it from different angles and cater to different merchant needs. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification focuses primarily on reducing fraudulent Cash on Delivery (COD) orders and Return-to-Origin (RTO) rates. It achieves this by verifying orders through OTP via WhatsApp, SMS, or email, and keeping customers updated on order status. This app seems particularly geared towards merchants who rely heavily on COD, especially in regions like India, Pakistan, and the Philippines, with support for Egypt SMS OTP as well. The ease of setup via built-in Shopify OTP verification is a core value proposition. Zumigo DeRiskify OrderRisk, on the other hand, takes a broader approach to fraud prevention by verifying buyer identity and payment information. It utilizes SMS at the point-of-purchase and certified data sources to confirm a customer's identity and ensure payment validity. This makes it ideal for merchants wanting more comprehensive fraud protection that extends beyond COD orders, focusing more generally on chargeback prevention and identity verification. Though both apps reside in the 'Fraud' category, their operational strategies and target user profiles are quite distinct.

Our Verdict
For merchants experiencing a significant number of fraudulent COD orders and high RTO rates, especially those operating in India, Pakistan, Philippines, or with customers in Egypt, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the clear choice. Its focus on COD verification via OTP, its geographic specialization, and ease of setup provide a targeted solution.
However, for merchants seeking broader fraud prevention and identity verification beyond just COD, Zumigo DeRiskify OrderRisk offers a more comprehensive approach. While it lacks the COD-specific features of its competitor, its use of SMS and authoritative data sources to verify buyer identity and payment information makes it suitable for businesses prioritizing general fraud reduction and chargeback prevention across all transactions.
