OTP Login with Phone vs SHOPLOCK Login Requiredfor Shopify (2026)
OTP Login with Phone and SHOPLOCK Login Required both fall under the 'Accounts and login' and 'Security - Other' categories on the Shopify app store, but they address fundamentally different needs. OTP Login focuses on streamlining and securing the login process for *known* customers using one-time passwords. It aims to enhance the user experience by replacing traditional passwords with a faster and more secure OTP system delivered via phone or email. Its strength lies in simplifying registration and login while offering customizable settings for OTP expiry, resend limits, and account information fields. SHOPLOCK Login Required, on the other hand, prioritizes restricting access to store content from *unknown* users. It allows merchants to lock their entire store, specific products, collections, or CMS pages behind a login or passcode. This app is ideal for merchants who want to create exclusive content, membership-based access, or limit viewing of sensitive information. It also provides additional security measures like disabling right-click, copy/paste, and developer tools to protect content from unauthorized access and replication. While OTP Login enhances convenience for existing and new customers, SHOPLOCK controls who can become a customer in the first place, and what they have access to.
