Overlyapp ‑ 3D / AR viewer vs Picture It: AR & Art Previewsfor Shopify (2026)
Overlyapp - 3D / AR viewer and Picture It: AR & Art Previews both aim to enhance the customer experience and boost sales through 3D and Augmented Reality (AR) previews, but they cater to different segments and offer distinct features. Overlyapp positions itself as an easy-to-use platform for a broader range of products, even handling 3D model creation for art, while also offering a complete setup service. Picture It: AR & Art Previews is specifically tailored for art galleries, art stores, and decor shops, focusing on enabling previews of artwork in augmented reality, virtual showrooms, and accurate dimension imports. The key differentiating factor lies in their focus: Overlyapp is a more general-purpose 3D/AR viewer with a higher level of support (including full setup service), while Picture It concentrates on the specific needs of art merchants with features like virtual showrooms and auto-framing. The customer reviews and ratings present a significant difference. Picture It: AR & Art Previews has a perfect 5/5 rating based on 35 reviews, indicating a high level of customer satisfaction with its functionality and usability. Overlyapp, on the other hand, currently has no reviews and a rating of 0/5, suggesting it's a new app or has yet to receive significant user feedback by 2026. This lack of social proof makes it harder to evaluate its claims of ease of use and support. The two apps also vary in their approaches to 3D model creation, Picture It assumes the user has the art already in digital format, which may be an import, but Overlyapp offers a service of 3D model creation from the user. Furthermore Picture it has built in analytics, so the merchant can track performance.

Our Verdict
Picture It: AR & Art Previews is the clear choice for art merchants looking to integrate AR previews and virtual showrooms into their online stores, particularly given its strong positive reviews and specialized feature set. The lack of reviews and the zero rating for Overlyapp raises concerns about its reliability and effectiveness, despite its broader application and promise of support.
However, Overlyapp might be a viable option for merchants selling products beyond art who are looking for a general 3D/AR viewer and are comfortable taking a risk on a new app with limited social proof, especially if they require assistance with 3D model creation. Overlyapp is also a great option for those less technically inclined, given the support to setup the application.
