Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD vs PayRules: Hide Payment Methodsfor Shopify (2026)
Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD and PayRules: Hide Payment Methods, while both related to Cash on Delivery (COD), address distinct needs of Shopify merchants. Partialy is a comprehensive solution focused on enabling partial payments and advanced COD management. It allows merchants to offer flexible payment options like deposits and BNPL, aiming to improve sales and reduce return-to-origin (RTO) rates. PayRules, on the other hand, centers on controlling which payment methods are displayed to customers based on specific conditions. This is more about offering a streamlined payment experience rather than changing payment terms like Partialy. The key differentiator lies in their core functionality. Partialy directly modifies payment terms by introducing partial payments and advanced COD rules based on factors like order amount, location, and customer segments. This enables complex COD strategies tailored to individual business needs. PayRules focuses on payment method visibility and restriction, helping merchants to control which payment gateways are offered to customers based on predefined rules. Essentially, Partialy is for *changing* how payments are structured, while PayRules is about *controlling* payment method presentation.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing flexible payment options like partial payments, deposits, and advanced COD rule management (e.g., based on order amount or location), Partialy ‑ Partial Payment COD is the superior choice. It empowers them to offer bespoke payment strategies and potentially reduce RTO. However, merchants whose primary concern is controlling which payment methods are displayed based on specific conditions (e.g., hiding certain payment options for high-risk orders) should opt for PayRules: Hide Payment Methods. It allows for a cleaner checkout experience and reduced payment fraud by limiting visible payment methods.
Common Questions
Which app is better for reducing RTO?
Partialy is explicitly designed to reduce RTO by offering partial payment options, which incentivize customers to accept delivery. PayRules does not directly address RTO.
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on their features, PayRules likely has a simpler initial setup as it focuses solely on payment method visibility. Partialy, with its advanced COD rules and partial payment options, may require more configuration.
Can both apps be used simultaneously?
Potentially, but with caution. Partialy modifies how payments are handled, while PayRules determines payment method visibility. Careful configuration is needed to ensure they don't conflict (e.g., PayRules not accidentally hiding a payment option that Partialy relies on).
Which app is better for pre-orders?
Partialy explicitly mentions simplifying pre-orders through its partial payment and deferred payment features. PayRules doesn't focus on pre-order functionalities.
Which app provides more customization options?
Partialy likely provides more customization options related to payment terms, COD rules and configuring shipping rates. PayRules has customization specifically for defining conditions to hide payment methods.
