Payflow: COD & Payment Methods vs Payment Rules Hide PaymentHerofor Shopify (2026)
Payflow: COD & Payment Methods and Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero are both Shopify apps designed to optimize the checkout experience, specifically around payment and delivery method presentation. Payflow focuses on Cash on Delivery (COD) functionality including fees, along with robust conditional logic for hiding, renaming, and reordering payment and delivery options. It aims to streamline COD processes and provide highly customizable checkout flows based on various customer and order attributes. Conversely, Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero concentrates on optimizing payment methods to increase conversion rates by allowing merchants to hide, sort, and rename payment options, offering a more focused approach on the payment aspect of checkout, though with potentially less complex conditionality. Its headline emphasis is on ease of use and quick setup to enhance checkout conversion. It appears to cater more towards merchants looking for simplicity in optimizing payment visibility. Payflow's strength lies in its comprehensive feature set, including the COD functionality and advanced AND/OR condition tool for complex rule creation based on total price, weight, tags, products, address and more. This positions it for merchants needing granular control over their checkout rules and especially those heavily reliant on COD. Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero shines in its simplicity and ease of use, targeting merchants prioritizing a quick setup and streamlined management of payment methods for increased conversion. While Payflow boasts a lower rating (4.8/5) compared to Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero (5/5), it also has significantly fewer reviews (110 vs 218). This means Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero has a stronger positive consensus, though potentially less tested across diverse use cases.

Our Verdict
For merchants who heavily rely on Cash on Delivery and require complex conditional logic to manage payment and delivery options, Payflow: COD & Payment Methods is the better choice, despite the slightly lower rating and fewer reviews. The ability to charge COD fees and use advanced AND/OR conditions makes it suitable for businesses with specific operational requirements.
On the other hand, if your primary goal is to quickly and easily optimize payment methods to boost checkout conversion, and you don't need extensive COD or delivery customization, Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is the preferred option. Its higher rating and focus on simplicity make it ideal for merchants seeking a straightforward solution to improve their payment experience. However, its lack of COD functionality may be a dealbreaker for some businesses.
