Payflow: COD & Payment Methods vs Sezzle Widgetfor Shopify (2026)
Payflow: COD & Payment Methods and Sezzle Widget cater to different, yet potentially overlapping, needs of Shopify merchants in 2026. Payflow focuses on optimizing the checkout experience, particularly for merchants offering Cash on Delivery (COD), by streamlining the process, allowing for fee additions, and providing advanced customization of payment and delivery method options. It excels at providing control and flexibility to merchants who want granular control over their checkout flow based on numerous conditions. It appears to be aimed at a broader audience, not limited by geography. Sezzle Widget, on the other hand, is specifically designed to increase sales and Average Order Value (AOV) by offering Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options to shoppers, but only targets US and Canadian customers. The core difference lies in their value proposition. Payflow enhances operational efficiency and customization of payment methods, while Sezzle leverages BNPL to improve conversion rates and AOV. Payflow offers merchants greater control and a wider range of customization options for payment and delivery, while Sezzle provides a specific solution – BNPL integration – for increasing sales by offering alternative payment options. Payflow may appeal to merchants who want comprehensive checkout control, whereas Sezzle targets merchants seeking to boost sales within the US and Canada through BNPL options.

Our Verdict
For merchants offering Cash on Delivery or those wanting granular control over their payment and delivery options based on diverse conditions (e.g., total price, weight, products), Payflow: COD & Payment Methods is the clear winner. Its higher rating and focus on customization make it a robust choice for a comprehensive checkout experience.
However, if a merchant's primary goal is to increase sales and AOV specifically within the US and Canada, and they believe their customers would benefit from BNPL options, Sezzle Widget is the more appropriate choice. While its rating is lower, its niche focus on BNPL and easier integration may prove beneficial for that specific use case.
