Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero vs RuffRuff Order Limitsfor Shopify (2026)
Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero and RuffRuff Order Limits both target Shopify merchants aiming to optimize their checkout experience, but they do so with significantly different focuses. Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is laser-focused on payment method optimization, allowing merchants to hide, sort, and rename payment options based on various rules. This is its primary strength, aiming to boost conversion by presenting shoppers with relevant payment choices. It boasts a substantial user base and a high review count, suggesting widespread adoption and satisfaction with its core functionality. RuffRuff Order Limits, on the other hand, takes a broader approach to checkout control. While it also allows for hiding payment methods under certain conditions, its primary value proposition revolves around setting comprehensive order limits based on quantity, price, weight, bundling, customer characteristics, and access restrictions. This makes it a more versatile tool for merchants needing to enforce complex purchasing rules, manage inventory, or restrict access to specific products or collections. However, its lower review count indicates a smaller user base, which might reflect a more niche appeal or a newer entry into the market. Ultimately, the choice between these apps depends on the merchant's specific needs. Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is ideal for merchants prioritizing payment method optimization to increase checkout conversion, while RuffRuff Order Limits is a better fit for those requiring comprehensive order limit controls and access restrictions.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose *primary* objective is to streamline and optimize payment options to increase conversion rates at checkout, Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is the clear choice. Its focus and high user satisfaction suggest it excels at this specific task. The German and English support may also be a plus for certain merchants.
However, if a merchant requires a robust and versatile solution for enforcing various order limits (quantity, price, weight, bundling) and controlling access to products or collections, RuffRuff Order Limits is the better option. While it also offers payment method control, its strength lies in its comprehensive order restriction capabilities. Think of Payment Rules as a scalpel and RuffRuff as a Swiss Army knife.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero likely has a simpler setup process due to its singular focus on payment method optimization. RuffRuff Order Limits, with its broader range of features, may require more configuration.
Can both apps hide payment methods based on customer location?
The descriptions don't explicitly state location-based hiding for either app. However, 'customer segments' in Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero *could* potentially include location-based rules. RuffRuff Order Limits mentions customer tags which could be linked to locations.
Which app is better for preventing fraudulent orders?
RuffRuff Order Limits, with its capabilities to set limits based on order price, weight, and quantity, offers more tools for mitigating potentially fraudulent large orders or unusual purchasing patterns. Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is primarily focused on payment options, not fraud prevention.
Does either app offer A/B testing for payment methods?
Neither app's description mentions A/B testing functionality. This would be an advanced feature not commonly found in basic payment or order limit apps.
Which app is more future-proof given the evolving e-commerce landscape?
RuffRuff Order Limits, with its wider range of features and adaptability to various purchase restrictions, might be considered more future-proof. E-commerce trends are likely to require more granular control over order conditions, not just payment options. However, the longevity depends on the development team's ongoing feature updates and adaptation to platform changes.
