Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero vs SupaElements: Custom Checkoutfor Shopify (2026)
Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero and SupaElements: Custom Checkout both aim to enhance the Shopify checkout experience, but they address distinct merchant needs. Payment Rules focuses primarily on optimizing payment method presentation. It provides tools to sort, hide, and rename payment options, targeting merchants seeking to streamline the payment process for improved conversion rates. The app emphasizes ease of use and offers German and English support, suggesting a focus on smaller to medium-sized businesses. SupaElements, on the other hand, takes a broader approach, offering extensive customization of the Checkout, Order Status, and Thank You pages. Its target audience appears to be merchants who require deep customization and branding options across multiple post-purchase touchpoints. Features like cross-selling, upselling, and SupaActions hint at more complex use cases and a greater level of technical proficiency required by the merchant. The significantly lower review count suggests it is a newer app or used by a smaller, possibly more niche, segment of Shopify merchants.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing payment method presentation and improving conversion rates through simplified choices, Payment Rules Hide PaymentHero is the clear choice. Its emphasis on ease of use and its specific feature set makes it ideal for those seeking a quick and effective solution.
SupaElements: Custom Checkout is better suited for merchants who require a high degree of control over the entire checkout experience, including cross-selling, upselling, and custom branding. These merchants are likely more comfortable with a more complex customization process and are willing to invest the time and effort to build a fully personalized checkout flow. The app's broader scope and focus on UI extensions makes it a better fit for established brands or stores with very specific branding needs.
