PC ‑ Custom Product Options vs Variant Option Product Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
PC ‑ Custom Product Options and Variant Option Product Options are both Shopify apps designed to extend product customization beyond the platform's built-in limitations. PC ‑ Custom Product Options positions itself as a comprehensive product customizer, focusing on unlimited options, upselling through custom options, and offering a robust set of features like conditional logic and template application. Variant Option Product Options, on the other hand, emphasizes overcoming the default variant limits and facilitating advanced options like color swatches and text boxes. Both aim to increase sales by providing a richer and more personalized shopping experience, but they cater to slightly different priorities. PC ‑ Custom Product Options seems tailored towards merchants who want a complete customization suite with features enabling advanced control and revenue generation through upcharges. It's a more feature-rich offering, suggesting a willingness to invest time in setup for potentially higher returns. Variant Option Product Options appears focused on efficiently expanding product options and improving the visual aspect (color/image swatches). It might be better suited for stores prioritizing ease of use and visual enhancements to their product selection without the same depth of conditional logic or template-based approach.

Our Verdict
For merchants who require comprehensive customization options, conditional logic, and want to actively up-charge for customized options, PC ‑ Custom Product Options is the stronger choice. Its template functionality also suggests better scalability for large product catalogs. However, if the primary goal is to quickly overcome the 3-option/100-variant limit and focus on visually appealing color and image swatches, Variant Option Product Options offers a more streamlined approach.
Ultimately, the best app depends on the specific needs and priorities of the merchant. PC ‑ Custom Product Options provides a more in-depth feature set, while Variant Option Product Options offers a potentially simpler and visually focused experience. Merchants should consider their technical expertise and desired level of customization before making a decision.
