Peel: Retention Analytics vs Zigpoll Customer Surveysfor Shopify (2026)
Peel: Retention Analytics and Zigpoll Customer Surveys both offer value to Shopify merchants in 2026, but cater to distinct needs. Peel focuses on *internal* data analysis, transforming raw Shopify, subscription, and marketing data into actionable insights for retention and subscription growth. It's heavily oriented towards quantitative analysis, providing over 150 metrics related to LTV, AOV, churn, and cohort trends. Its strength lies in providing ready-made templates and automating reporting. Zigpoll, in contrast, emphasizes *external* data collection through customer surveys delivered on-site, via email, and SMS. It utilizes AI to analyze zero-party data gathered directly from customers to optimize business decisions and marketing spend. The core difference lies in the data source and analysis type. Peel is a powerful analytics platform that leverages existing data to optimize retention and subscription models. It's ideal for merchants seeking a deep dive into their existing metrics and looking to automate reporting. Zigpoll is a survey platform that gathers new, qualitative data from customers, allowing merchants to understand *why* customers behave the way they do. It's best suited for merchants who want direct customer feedback to improve their products, marketing, and overall customer experience. While both aim to improve profitability, they approach it through different angles: internal analysis vs. external feedback.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with understanding and optimizing their existing customer data to improve retention and subscription metrics, Peel: Retention Analytics is the stronger choice. Its pre-built templates and deep dive into LTV, AOV, and churn provide a robust foundation for data-driven decision-making. For merchants prioritizing gathering direct customer feedback to improve their product, marketing, and customer experience, Zigpoll Customer Surveys is more appropriate. Its no-code setup and AI analytics make it easy to collect and analyze customer opinions.
While both aim to increase profitability, they do so through different mechanisms. If a merchant already has sufficient data but struggles to analyze it and turn it into actionable insights, Peel is the better fit. If a merchant lacks understanding of their customers' motivations and pain points, Zigpoll will provide more immediate and relevant value.
Common Questions
Can Peel integrate customer survey data?
The app description does not explicitly mention direct integration with customer survey platforms. Its focus is on analyzing existing data from Shopify, subscription platforms, and marketing channels.
Can Zigpoll provide insights into customer lifetime value?
While Zigpoll gathers data that *could* indirectly inform LTV (e.g., satisfaction influencing repurchase rate), it doesn't directly calculate or analyze LTV. Peel is much stronger in that area.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Zigpoll appears easier to set up due to its 'no-code setup in seconds' claim. Peel's focus on advanced analytics and custom metrics suggests a potentially steeper learning curve.
Which app is better for identifying specific product performance issues?
Peel's 'Product Analytics: SKU-level insights, product bundles, customer journeys' feature makes it better suited for identifying product-specific performance issues. Zigpoll could indirectly reveal product issues through survey responses.
Do either of these apps provide A/B testing capabilities?
Neither app description explicitly mentions A/B testing features. However, Zigpoll surveys *could* be used to gather insights to inform A/B testing on a store.
