Phone ‑ Calls, SMS, Campaigns vs WAX: marketing on WhatsAppfor Shopify (2026)
Phone - Calls, SMS, Campaigns and WAX: marketing on WhatsApp offer distinct approaches to customer communication for Shopify merchants. Phone - Calls, SMS, Campaigns positions itself as a comprehensive business phone system with SMS and voice campaign capabilities, targeting merchants who want a dedicated business phone number and features like IVR and call recording. Its key strength lies in providing a full-fledged phone system integrated with SMS marketing. However, the lack of reviews makes it difficult to assess its reliability and usability. WAX: marketing on WhatsApp, on the other hand, focuses exclusively on WhatsApp marketing, targeting merchants who want to leverage WhatsApp's high open and response rates for sales and retention. Its strength lies in its conversational flow builder, automated customer journeys, and GDPR compliance. With positive reviews and a specific focus on WhatsApp, WAX is likely to be easier to use and more effective for merchants who already have a WhatsApp presence or want to build one. WAX caters towards customer retention and improving customer experience where the other app focuses on a voice and SMS system.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a complete business phone system with SMS and voice marketing capabilities, Phone - Calls, SMS, Campaigns *could* be an option, but the complete absence of reviews is a significant risk. Due to this risk I would suggest that merchants avoid this app until it has gained more reviews.
For merchants primarily focused on boosting sales and enhancing customer experience through WhatsApp marketing, WAX: marketing on WhatsApp is the superior choice. Its positive reviews, specific focus, and features like automated flows and GDPR compliance make it a safer and likely more effective option for driving results on WhatsApp.
