Photolock ‑ Pasilobus vs SEO Speed Image Optimizerfor Shopify (2026)
Photolock ‑ Pasilobus and SEO Speed Image Optimizer, while both falling under the 'Images and Media' category on Shopify, serve fundamentally different purposes. Photolock focuses on protecting visual content from unauthorized use by disabling right-clicks, keyboard shortcuts, and preventing search engine indexing of images. It also offers watermark functionality and source code obfuscation. Conversely, SEO Speed Image Optimizer is designed to improve website performance and SEO by compressing and resizing images, optimizing alt text, and providing bulk editing capabilities. The core difference lies in their target audiences. Photolock is aimed at merchants concerned about copyright infringement and protecting their original content from being copied or misused. SEO Speed Image Optimizer targets merchants focused on improving their website's speed, search engine ranking, and overall user experience through image optimization. The large discrepancy in the number of reviews (35 vs. 183) and rating (4.1 vs. 5) suggests that SEO Speed Image Optimizer may be more popular and trusted, although review volume does not always reflect the quality of the app. The decision between the two depends heavily on the merchant's primary concern: content protection versus site speed and SEO.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with preventing copyright infringement and protecting their unique visual content, Photolock ‑ Pasilobus is the more suitable option. Its features are specifically designed to prevent image theft and unauthorized use. However, merchants looking to improve their website's performance and SEO should opt for SEO Speed Image Optimizer. Its image resizing, alt text optimization, and bulk editing features will directly contribute to faster loading times and better search engine visibility.
Given the higher rating and substantially larger number of reviews, SEO Speed Image Optimizer appears to be a more established and positively received app within its domain. While Photolock offers valuable features for content protection, the lower rating and fewer reviews suggest that merchants should carefully consider their specific needs and potentially explore alternative content protection solutions before committing to Photolock. Ultimately, the best choice hinges on the merchant's priorities: security or SEO.
