Our Verdict
The choice between Pirate Ship and SellerDash is straightforward and depends entirely on the merchant's location and preferred shipping carrier. If you are a US-based merchant looking for discounts on USPS and UPS shipping, Pirate Ship is the clear choice, offering a simple and cost-effective solution. However, if your business is based in Australia and you primarily use Australia Post for shipping, SellerDash provides the necessary tools for efficient order management and label printing tailored to Australia Post's services. For an Australian Merchant, SellerDash is recommended despite its higher rating as it supports Australia Post.
Common Questions
Which app offers better discounts on shipping rates?
Pirate Ship offers pre-negotiated discounts for USPS and UPS services within the US. SellerDash focuses on integrating with Australia Post and does not explicitly claim to offer discounted rates beyond what Australia Post provides.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Pirate Ship claims to be very easy to install and use, allowing merchants to start shipping in seconds. While SellerDash focuses on features, it doesn't explicitly prioritize ease of use as prominently, implying it may have a steeper learning curve due to the complexities of Australia Post's services and bulk processing features.
Can both apps handle international shipping?
While Pirate Ship focuses on domestic USPS and UPS services, SellerDash states it views live rates for 'Domestic and International' deliveries. It is not clear to what extent Pirate Ship supports International shipments, or their rates.
Which app is better for bulk order processing?
SellerDash explicitly offers features for bulk label printing, uploading tracking numbers, and efficient batch processing, making it the better choice for merchants handling large volumes of orders through Australia Post. Pirate Ship only mentions fulfilling orders, not bulk fulfillment capabilities.
Do both apps automatically update order fulfillment status in Shopify?
Pirate Ship automatically marks Shopify orders as 'Fulfilled' and adds tracking numbers. SellerDash also provides this functionality (uploading tracking numbers to Shopify orders and fulfilling them), and also offers batch processing for such updates.
