Our Verdict
Choosing between PIX and Whatmore depends entirely on your priorities. If your main concern is improving your store's technical foundation by optimizing images for speed and SEO, PIX ‑ Image Optimizer is the better choice. However, if you're looking to actively engage your audience with interactive content, particularly if you already have a strong presence on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, Whatmore Shoppable Videos+Reel offers a powerful solution to convert social traffic into sales. The higher rating and significantly larger number of reviews for Whatmore suggest greater user satisfaction and potentially broader applicability, but merchants solely focused on site speed should consider PIX first.
Common Questions
Which app is better for improving my store's SEO?
PIX ‑ Image Optimizer is likely better for direct SEO benefits, as optimized images contribute to faster page load times, a key ranking factor. Whatmore might indirectly improve SEO through increased engagement and dwell time on product pages.
Which app requires more ongoing maintenance?
Whatmore likely requires more ongoing maintenance, as you need to manage and update video content, ensure accurate product tagging, and potentially adjust your video marketing strategy. PIX, focusing on automated image optimization, should require less maintenance after initial setup.
Can I use both PIX and Whatmore together?
Yes, these apps are complementary. You can use PIX to optimize the images within your store, including those used in Whatmore's shoppable videos, ensuring optimal performance for all media assets.
Which app is easier to set up?
While not explicitly stated, PIX is likely easier to set up due to its more straightforward functionality of image optimization. Whatmore requires connecting to social media accounts, tagging products, and designing video layouts, potentially making it a more involved process.
If I'm not using TikTok or Instagram, is Whatmore still useful?
Whatmore can still be useful if you upload videos directly rather than sourcing them from social media. However, its core value proposition is the seamless integration with those platforms. Without them, you might find alternative video solutions more suitable.
