PML Stock Take Inventory Count vs Shopcodesfor Shopify (2026)
PML Stock Take Inventory Count and Shopcodes are both Shopify apps in the 'Selling in person' and 'Retail' categories, but they address fundamentally different needs. PML Stock Take focuses on streamlining inventory management for physical stores, particularly those using Shopify POS. It boasts a high rating of 4.9/5 based on 30 reviews, suggesting a positive user experience. Its strength lies in its ability to simplify stock takes, reduce errors, and provide a comprehensive view of inventory through barcode scanning, POS integration, and detailed reporting. It's ideal for merchants struggling with stock discrepancies and manual inventory processes. Shopcodes, on the other hand, facilitates product marketing and direct-to-checkout access using QR codes. While it has slightly more reviews (37), it suffers from a significantly lower rating of 2/5. This indicates potential usability issues or unmet expectations. Its core value proposition is enabling customers to quickly purchase products by scanning QR codes on packaging or marketing materials, and tracking the code scans. It aims to bridge the gap between physical marketing and online sales, but its poor rating raises concerns about its effectiveness and user satisfaction. The significant rating difference must be heavily considered.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on optimizing their in-store inventory management and reducing stock discrepancies, PML Stock Take Inventory Count is the clear choice. Its high rating and features specifically designed for physical stores and Shopify POS integration make it a strong contender. The focus on creating stock takes and reporting on missing items directly addresses core inventory issues.
Shopcodes is best suited for merchants heavily invested in physical marketing and looking to bridge the gap between offline promotions and online sales. However, the extremely low rating warrants extreme caution. Unless the merchant is prepared to potentially troubleshoot significant usability issues or has a very specific need for QR code marketing, exploring alternative QR code generator apps with better ratings would be advisable. The success of Shopcodes relies heavily on its usability and the ease with which customers can scan and purchase, factors seemingly not well-addressed given current reviews.
