POS Variable Priced Products vs Singleton | Advanced Discountsfor Shopify (2026)
POS Variable Priced Products and Singleton | Advanced Discounts, while both categorized under 'Pricing' in the Shopify app store, cater to vastly different needs. POS Variable Priced Products focuses on enabling dynamic pricing within the Shopify POS system, particularly valuable for businesses like florists or vintage clothing stores where prices fluctuate per item. It allows merchants to adjust prices, track costs, and manage inventory directly at the point of sale, maintaining reporting accuracy. Singleton | Advanced Discounts, on the other hand, is designed to implement a variety of discounts to incentivize online purchases. Its strength lies in offering flexible discount structures, including volume discounts and customer-specific promotions, across various cart and checkout interfaces. While both apps deal with 'Pricing', one adjusts individual product pricing during POS transactions while the other offers incentives for online sales. Merchants should carefully consider their core needs to determine which app aligns best. In 2026, with likely improvements to both apps, the core distinction remains. If a merchant requires dynamic pricing and inventory management directly through the Shopify POS, especially for unique or variable-cost products, then POS Variable Priced Products is the superior choice. If the business strategy is to improve online sales by offering a variety of promotions and discounts across the online store, then Singleton | Advanced Discounts is the more suitable option.

Our Verdict
For brick-and-mortar retailers selling products with fluctuating prices or unique values that need to be priced individually at the point of sale, POS Variable Priced Products is the clear winner. It integrates directly with Shopify POS, enabling price adjustments, cost tracking, and inventory management at the transaction level. The fact that vendor, product type, and product cost are included in Shopify sales reporting is a major advantage.
However, for online stores looking to incentivize sales through targeted discounts, volume discounts, or customer-specific promotions, Singleton | Advanced Discounts is the superior choice. Its focus on enhancing the online shopping experience with visible discounts in cart drawers and checkout pages is designed to motivate customers to purchase more. While it may not impact individual cost-tracking, it is designed to improve overall online sales.
