PostNord by SYNKA+ vs ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
PostNord by SYNKA+ and ShipX - Shipping Rates & Rules are both 5-star rated Shopify apps in the Shipping rates category, but cater to vastly different needs. PostNord by SYNKA+ focuses on direct integration with PostNord, offering automated label creation, tracking, and customs documentation specifically for merchants using PostNord as their carrier. This app simplifies the process of managing PostNord shipments directly within Shopify, offering features tailored for domestic and international PostNord shipping. It also uniquely supports Shopify Basic customers matching shipping methods to PostNord options. ShipX - Shipping Rates & Rules, on the other hand, is a comprehensive shipping rate calculator with advanced rules and integrations beyond a single carrier. It aims to provide merchants with precise and flexible shipping rate calculations based on various factors like cart contents, product dimensions, postal codes, and even distance. It leverages AI-based packaging and rate blending to optimize shipping costs and offers conditional rates for different customers and suppliers. ShipX requires Shopify's Carrier Calculated Shipping API and focuses on intricate shipping rule management and loss prevention strategies. Both apps share the goal of optimizing the shipping experience for Shopify merchants, but they approach it from distinct angles: direct carrier integration versus advanced rate calculation and rules management.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily using PostNord for their shipping needs, especially those on the Shopify Basic plan, PostNord by SYNKA+ offers a streamlined and convenient solution. Its tight integration with PostNord simplifies label creation, tracking, and customs documentation, all within the Shopify interface. It bridges the gap for Basic Shopify users needing carrier calculated rates.
ShipX - Shipping Rates & Rules is better suited for merchants with more complex shipping requirements, such as drop shippers, those dealing with diverse product dimensions, or businesses that utilize multiple carriers. Its advanced rule-based system and AI-powered packaging optimization provide greater control over shipping costs and prevent potential losses. ShipX empowers merchants to fine-tune their shipping strategy with detailed parameters and rate blending.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
PostNord by SYNKA+ is likely easier to set up and use for merchants specifically needing PostNord integration, as it focuses on a single carrier. ShipX's advanced rule system may require more time and effort to configure properly, but it provides greater customization.
Can I use ShipX if I only ship with PostNord?
While ShipX integrates with multiple carriers, it is not specifically optimized for PostNord. PostNord by SYNKA+ is the more efficient solution if you *only* use PostNord. ShipX's breadth of features may be overkill.
Which app is better for international shipping?
Both apps support international shipping. PostNord by SYNKA+ automatically handles CN22/23 and Commercial Invoice documentation, making it convenient for PostNord-based international shipping. ShipX's conditional rates can be configured to account for international shipping costs and regulations, but requires more manual setup.
Does ShipX work with Shopify Basic plans?
ShipX requires the Carrier Calculated Shipping API from Shopify. This API is included in Shopify's higher tier plans, not Basic. PostNord by SYNKA+ provides a workaround that *does* support Basic plans.
Which app is more scalable as my business grows?
ShipX is generally more scalable due to its ability to handle complex shipping rules and integrations with multiple carriers. As your business expands and your shipping needs become more diverse, ShipX's flexibility will be advantageous. PostNord by SYNKA+ remains useful for maintaining streamlined PostNord operations.
