Preorder, Back In Stock ‑ STOQ vs Stockify | Stock Counterfor Shopify (2026)
Preorder, Back In Stock ‑ STOQ (STOQ) and Stockify | Stock Counter are both Shopify apps that address inventory management, but they do so from very different angles. STOQ focuses on enabling merchants to sell products even when they are out of stock, using pre-orders, backorders, and waitlists. Its strengths lie in its comprehensive feature set including partial payments, automatic restock notifications via email/SMS, Klaviyo integration, and B2B preorder support. It appears aimed at merchants looking to capture revenue even when inventory is unavailable and build anticipation for restocks. Stockify, on the other hand, emphasizes creating a sense of urgency by visually displaying real-time stock levels on product pages. Stockify's strength lies in its simplicity and ease of use, aiming to boost sales by highlighting limited availability through stock counters, progress bars, and icon-based displays. It targets merchants who want to use scarcity marketing tactics to encourage immediate purchases. While both apps aim to increase sales, STOQ is oriented towards managing out-of-stock situations and future sales, whereas Stockify is more focused on optimizing conversions based on current inventory levels. A significant difference lies in user adoption, indicated by the vast difference in number of reviews.

Our Verdict
STOQ is the better choice for merchants who frequently deal with out-of-stock products and want to proactively manage demand and capture future sales. Its comprehensive feature set allows for sophisticated pre-order and backorder management, automated notifications, and integration with marketing platforms. It's ideal for businesses willing to invest time in setup for long-term revenue benefits.
Stockify is a better fit for merchants who prioritize simplicity and ease of use, and whose primary goal is to boost sales by creating a sense of urgency based on current stock levels. It's a quick and effective way to highlight limited inventory and encourage immediate purchases, especially beneficial for products with consistently low stock. However, merchants should be mindful of the very small number of reviews.
