Product Volume Discounts vs YouQuote: Request a Quote Formfor Shopify (2026)
Product Volume Discounts and YouQuote: Request a Quote Form are Shopify apps targeting pricing strategies, but they cater to fundamentally different needs. Product Volume Discounts focuses on automating and streamlining volume-based pricing, offering fixed price breaks per product visible directly on product pages. Its target audience includes B2C, B2B, and wholesale merchants looking to increase AOV and offer transparent bulk pricing. YouQuote, on the other hand, facilitates custom pricing through a request-a-quote system, emphasizing personalized interactions and negotiation. The core difference lies in the pricing approach: automated discounts versus personalized quotes. Product Volume Discounts offers instant price breaks directly within the product display, eliminating the need for discount codes. YouQuote provides a framework for customers to request personalized pricing, suitable for complex orders or situations where pricing depends on factors beyond simple quantity. The two apps also seem to target different stages of the customer journey; discounts are proactive whereas the quote form is reliant on the customer initiating the pricing process.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to automatically incentivize larger purchases with clear, pre-defined pricing tiers, especially in B2B or wholesale scenarios, Product Volume Discounts is the clear choice, provided that the lack of reviews isn't concerning. Its native integration with Shopify's core features simplifies implementation and eliminates reliance on discount codes.
If a merchant needs a solution for handling complex orders that require custom pricing and negotiation, or if building personal relationships is a priority, YouQuote: Request a Quote Form is the better option. Its positive reviews suggest a reliable and effective tool for managing quote requests and engaging with potential customers on a personalized level. The user's need to initiate the quoting process may however be a deterrent for some customers.
Common Questions
Which app is better for B2B businesses?
Product Volume Discounts explicitly mentions optimization for B2B with features like customer segment restrictions. However, YouQuote can also be suitable for B2B if personalized pricing is required for different clients.
Is Product Volume Discounts truly 'easier' to use than YouQuote?
Based on the descriptions, Product Volume Discounts likely offers a simpler setup, as it integrates directly into Shopify's product settings. YouQuote would likely require customizing a form and managing the quote requests, making it potentially more complex to set up and manage.
Which app is better for stores also using Shopify POS?
Product Volume Discounts explicitly states it works on Shopify POS, offering in-store discounts. There's no mention of POS compatibility for YouQuote, making Product Volume Discounts the better option for in-store discounts.
How can I decide if I need automated discounts vs. a quote form?
Consider the complexity of your pricing and the degree of personalization required. If your pricing is based solely on quantity, Product Volume Discounts is ideal. If other factors affect pricing and negotiation is involved, YouQuote is more appropriate.
Should I be concerned about Product Volume Discounts having no reviews?
Yes, a lack of reviews is a risk. It's wise to proceed cautiously, perhaps by contacting the app developer to inquire about a trial period or demo before committing.
