Puco Checkout Rules vs SPD Split Payment & Depositfor Shopify (2026)
Both Puco Checkout Rules and SPD Split Payment & Deposit aim to enhance payment flexibility on Shopify stores. Based on limited data, they address different merchant needs within the broader "Payment options - Other" category. Puco Checkout Rules, with a slightly higher rating of 4.9/5 (56 reviews), likely focuses on offering conditional rules during checkout, possibly impacting payment method availability based on factors like cart contents, customer location, or order total. SPD Split Payment & Deposit, rated 4.8/5 with a higher review count of 85, seems to cater to merchants requiring the functionality to accept partial payments or deposits for orders, splitting the total cost into installments. The primary differentiator lies in their core functionality: conditional checkout rules versus split payment/deposit capabilities. Puco likely targets merchants wanting to offer customized payment experiences and optimize conversion rates by tailoring options to specific shopper behaviors. SPD, on the other hand, is likely geared towards businesses selling high-value items, pre-order products, or custom services where upfront deposits or payment plans are common. The higher review count for SPD suggests a potentially larger user base actively seeking split payment functionality, while Puco’s higher rating may indicate greater user satisfaction within its niche.

Our Verdict
Choosing between Puco Checkout Rules and SPD Split Payment & Deposit depends heavily on your business needs. If your priority is to dynamically control payment options based on various checkout conditions (e.g., offering specific payment methods based on customer location or order value) and improve conversion rates through tailored checkout experiences, Puco Checkout Rules is likely the better choice.
However, if your business requires the ability to accept split payments or deposits for high-value items, pre-orders, or custom services, SPD Split Payment & Deposit is the more appropriate solution. While its rating is slightly lower, the higher number of reviews suggests wider adoption and potentially more community support, which can be valuable for troubleshooting and best practices. Ultimately, further research into specific features and available integrations is recommended before making a final decision.
