PushEngage Web Push & WhatsApp vs Unblocked: Push Notificationsfor Shopify (2026)
PushEngage Web Push & WhatsApp and Unblocked: Push Notifications offer distinct approaches to customer engagement for Shopify merchants in 2026. PushEngage provides a multi-channel solution focusing on web push, app push, and WhatsApp, aiming to recover abandoned carts, boost repeat purchases, and send important notifications (order, shipping, back-in-stock). It caters to merchants seeking a comprehensive platform to manage various communication channels, including a 'Click to Chat' widget. For Shopify Plus stores, PushEngage offers dedicated support, suggesting a focus on larger merchants. In contrast, Unblocked focuses solely on mobile push notifications to iOS and Android *without* the need for a mobile app, targeting merchants who want to leverage this channel directly without the investment and complexity of app development. They emphasize ease of use, automated product drop announcements, and geolocation targeting for a streamlined approach to retention and conversion.

Our Verdict
The choice between PushEngage and Unblocked depends heavily on the merchant's existing marketing strategy and technical capabilities. PushEngage is the better choice for merchants who are already using or planning to use a variety of channels (web push, app, WhatsApp) and want a unified dashboard to manage their customer engagement, especially for Shopify Plus users. On the other hand, Unblocked is ideal for merchants who don't have a mobile app but want to harness the power of mobile push notifications for product drops, restock alerts, and geo-targeted promotions. The lack of reviews for Unblocked requires caution, but the unique feature of sending mobile push notifications without an app makes it a compelling option for certain merchants.
