Rabbi country Blocker vs Real ID ‑ ID verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Rabbi Country Blocker and Real ID ‑ ID verification, while both categorized under 'Fraud' on the Shopify App Store, address fundamentally different aspects of security and fraud prevention. Rabbi Country Blocker focuses on blocking unwanted traffic based on geographic location, aiming to reduce spam, bot activity, and potentially malicious access. It positions itself as a simple, fast solution for improving site security and performance by controlling access at the country level. Real ID, on the other hand, tackles identity verification to prevent chargeback fraud and ensure compliance with regulations for age-restricted goods. It uses AI-powered ID verification to confirm customer identities before or after checkout, automating the process and aiming to reduce incorrectly flagged high-risk orders. The primary difference lies in their approach. Rabbi Country Blocker is a proactive tool that aims to prevent unwanted access before it happens, acting as a gatekeeper. Real ID is a reactive tool, verifying customer identities when required, particularly in situations that carry higher risk or require regulatory compliance. Rabbi Country Blocker targets merchants concerned with overall site security, bot traffic, and potentially unwanted international visitors. Real ID targets merchants with age-restricted products, or those experiencing chargeback fraud, and those wanting to proactively identify risky orders. They both offer benefits in preventing fraud but target different sources and types.
