Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 links vs Shop Sheriff AMP Pagesfor Shopify (2026)
Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 links and Shop Sheriff AMP Pages are both Shopify apps targeting SEO and site optimization, but they address fundamentally different needs. Redirect Hero focuses on maintaining a healthy website by automatically fixing broken links and reducing 404 errors, thus improving the user experience and indirectly boosting SEO by minimizing crawl errors and maintaining link equity. Shop Sheriff AMP Pages, on the other hand, directly aims to improve site speed and SEO by generating Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMPs), which are lightweight, mobile-optimized versions of store pages designed to load instantly, improve Core Web Vitals, and consequently increase organic search rankings. The primary distinction lies in their approaches to SEO. Redirect Hero is a preventative measure, ensuring existing content remains accessible and relevant, suitable for merchants wanting to maintain a clean and error-free site. Shop Sheriff AMP Pages adopts a proactive strategy, actively optimizing the mobile experience to meet Google's ranking criteria. While Redirect Hero indirectly impacts SEO, Shop Sheriff AMP Pages explicitly tackles mobile SEO performance, aiming for improved organic visibility and a better user experience on mobile devices through faster loading times. Shop Sheriff also offers integrations with other apps, adding to the benefit. However, it should be noted that AMP is becoming less of a ranking factor, and core web vitals are becoming more important to overall SEO. AMP is just one solution. A well optimized responsive website may be more than sufficient to solve core web vital issues, and save you the expense and effort of maintaining AMP. Both will improve the user experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants experiencing a high number of 404 errors or prioritizing overall website health and maintenance, Redirect Hero is the clear choice. It addresses a fundamental need for site integrity and prevents user frustration, indirectly contributing to SEO performance. On the other hand, for merchants specifically targeting mobile SEO performance and aiming to improve Core Web Vitals, Shop Sheriff AMP Pages provides a proactive solution. However, note that in 2026, AMP is probably less important than it is today. If you have a fully responsive site that is well optimized, then AMP might not be the right solution for you.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Without hands-on testing, it's difficult to say definitively. However, Redirect Hero's function of fixing 404 errors suggests a more automated and simpler process. Shop Sheriff AMP Pages, with its page-builder and integrations, likely requires more setup and customization.
Which app provides a more direct impact on SEO?
Shop Sheriff AMP Pages offers a more direct impact on SEO. By generating AMP pages and improving Core Web Vitals, it directly addresses Google's mobile ranking factors.
Do I need both apps?
Potentially. Redirect Hero addresses a fundamental site maintenance need, while Shop Sheriff AMP Pages is a more specialized optimization tool. If you have frequent 404 errors and are also targeting mobile SEO, using both might be beneficial. However, ensure your core site is optimized *first*.
Which app is more likely to require ongoing maintenance?
Shop Sheriff AMP Pages may require more ongoing maintenance. As web standards and Google's ranking algorithms evolve, you may need to adjust your AMP configurations and integrations to maintain optimal performance.
Is it possible to achieve similar results to Shop Sheriff AMP Pages without using AMP?
Yes, absolutely. A well-optimized responsive website can achieve excellent page speed and Core Web Vitals scores. Consider optimizing images, leveraging browser caching, and using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) instead of relying solely on AMP, especially as AMP becomes less important.
