Our Verdict
For merchants specifically struggling with broken links and needing a tool to create redirects, Redirect Hero ‑ Fix 404 links is the more suitable choice. Its high rating and focus on a specific problem make it a reliable solution. However, for merchants wanting a broader, 'hands-off' approach to improving overall website speed and SEO, Thunder Page Speed Optimizer is the better option. While its rating is slightly lower, its automated features and focus on multiple aspects of site optimization offer a more comprehensive solution. If both broken links AND speed are concerns, evaluate budget and determine if two apps are necessary, or if Thunder provides sufficient redirection support in addition to its speed enhancements.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Based on the description, Thunder Page Speed Optimizer is designed for ease of use with its '1 click' setup, suggesting a simpler experience for non-technical users. Redirect Hero's ease of use depends on the complexity of the 404 issues and redirect rules needed.
Which app is better for SEO?
Both apps contribute to SEO, but in different ways. Redirect Hero improves SEO by eliminating broken links, while Thunder Page Speed Optimizer directly boosts SEO by improving page speed and optimizing website elements.
Which app is more expensive?
Pricing information is not provided. A merchant would need to check the Shopify App Store listings for both apps to determine their respective pricing plans.
Does Thunder Page Speed Optimizer fix broken links?
While Thunder Page Speed Optimizer focuses on website speed, it doesn't explicitly mention fixing broken links as a core feature. It's primarily geared towards optimizing page loading speed and related performance aspects.
If I have a slow website and lots of 404 errors, which app should I choose first?
Addressing broken links with Redirect Hero first might be a good strategy. These errors directly impact user experience. After fixing 404 errors, then focus on the overall speed of your site with Thunder. Both impact SEO and sales, but a user hitting a 404 will likely leave your store immediately.
