Referral Candy & Affiliate vs Rise.ai: Gift Cards & Loyaltyfor Shopify (2026)
Referral Candy & Affiliate and Rise.ai: Gift Cards & Loyalty are both Shopify apps aiming to boost sales and customer loyalty, but they approach this goal from different angles. Referral Candy focuses on leveraging existing customers and affiliates through referral and affiliate marketing programs, offering rewards and commission-based incentives for driving new business. Its strength lies in acquiring new customers through word-of-mouth marketing and tapping into the power of external promoters. Rise.ai, on the other hand, centers on maximizing the value of store credit, turning it into a versatile tool for loyalty, refunds, and even marketing campaigns. Rise.ai primarily targets customer retention and increasing lifetime value by encouraging repeat purchases through store credit-based incentives. They both have customer loyalty and rewards as categories but Referral Candy & Affiliate focuses mostly on getting *new* customers through rewarding existing customers or affiliate partners. The core difference lies in their primary strategies. Referral Candy & Affiliate is external-facing, utilizing referrals and affiliates for acquisition, while Rise.ai is internal-facing, focused on maximizing the value of existing customers through store credit and loyalty programs. Referral Candy offers detailed reporting on affiliates and allows for multiple targeted campaigns. Rise.ai integrates gift cards, cashback, and refunds into a single wallet to provide a seamless and convenient customer experience. The integration list is also different - Referral Candy claims it works with Klaviyo, Recharge, Loop, Skio, Bold and all Shopify subscription apps while Rise.ai emphasizes a 'branded wallet'.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on acquiring new customers through word-of-mouth marketing and affiliate partnerships, Referral Candy & Affiliate is the stronger choice. Its referral and affiliate program features are tailored for this purpose, and the high rating and larger number of reviews suggest strong user satisfaction. However, for stores seeking to maximize the lifetime value of existing customers, improve retention, and create a seamless loyalty experience centered around store credit, Rise.ai is the more suitable option. Its unified wallet and cashback campaigns are designed to drive repeat purchases and reduce churn.
Ultimately, the best app depends on the merchant's specific growth strategy and priorities. A combination of both strategies might be valuable, but if resources are limited, choosing the app that aligns with the core marketing goals is crucial. For instance, if ad spend is high and ROI is low, Referral Candy & Affiliate can reduce acquisition costs.
