Referral Program ‑ Shopjar vs Refersion: Affiliate Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Referral Program ‑ Shopjar and Refersion: Affiliate Marketing both provide Shopify merchants with tools to leverage referrals and affiliate marketing, but they cater to different needs and potentially different sized businesses. Shopjar, with a slightly higher rating of 4.9/5, presents itself as a more streamlined referral program solution. Its higher rating, while based on fewer reviews (86), suggests potentially greater ease of use or more focused functionality, appealing to merchants prioritizing simplicity and a quick setup. Refersion, on the other hand, boasts a much larger user base reflected in its 488 reviews. Despite a slightly lower rating of 4.7/5, the higher review count suggests a more mature platform with a broader range of features aimed at comprehensive affiliate marketing campaign management. Refersion likely caters to merchants with more established affiliate programs or those looking for advanced customization and tracking capabilities. The difference in review counts highlights a fundamental contrast: Shopjar might be better for new or smaller stores seeking a simple referral solution, while Refersion is probably targeted at established or larger stores with complex affiliate needs. Choosing between the two depends heavily on the merchant's specific requirements and technical expertise. A small store focusing on organic growth might prefer Shopjar's simplicity, whereas a larger enterprise requiring advanced affiliate tracking and payment solutions may lean towards Refersion.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants seeking a straightforward and user-friendly referral program without the complexity of a full-fledged affiliate marketing platform, Referral Program ‑ Shopjar is likely the better choice. Its high rating, combined with an assumption of simpler functionality, suggests a quick and easy implementation. This app is suited for smaller businesses looking to quickly boost organic growth through customer referrals.
On the other hand, Refersion: Affiliate Marketing is more suitable for merchants with existing affiliate programs or those who anticipate needing advanced features for managing and scaling their affiliate marketing efforts. While its rating is slightly lower, the significant number of reviews indicates a robust and widely-used platform. If your business has dedicated marketing staff and a budget for more complex affiliate campaigns, Refersion provides the necessary tools to effectively manage and track your affiliate performance.
