Report Toaster: Custom Reports vs Supermetricsfor Shopify (2026)
Report Toaster: Custom Reports and Supermetrics, while both categorized under Operations and Analytics in the Shopify app store, cater to distinctly different needs. Report Toaster focuses on providing in-depth, customizable reports *directly from Shopify store data*. Its strength lies in creating granular reports concerning sales, inventory, and other operational aspects of a Shopify store, offering features like custom fields, scheduled delivery, and multi-store reporting. It is designed for merchants seeking a complete, in-Shopify solution. Supermetrics, on the other hand, is positioned as a data aggregator for *marketing and sales platforms outside of Shopify*. Its core function is to consolidate data from various sources (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads) into a centralized location for analysis, supporting a wide range of BI, reporting, and analytics tools. Its target audience is businesses that need a holistic view of their marketing performance across multiple platforms, requiring more sophisticated external analysis rather than only reporting within the Shopify platform.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with deeply understanding and optimizing their Shopify store's performance – tracking sales trends, managing inventory effectively, and gaining insights into customer behavior within the Shopify ecosystem – Report Toaster: Custom Reports is the clear choice. Its focus on Shopify-specific data and customizable reports makes it an ideal solution.
However, businesses investing heavily in multi-channel marketing and requiring a unified view of their campaigns across platforms like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and others will find Supermetrics a more suitable option. Its data aggregation capabilities and integration with various BI and analytics tools enable a more comprehensive analysis of marketing effectiveness, albeit requiring more technical know-how to initially set up.
