Our Verdict
For merchants needing a deep dive into their Shopify data to understand trends, sales performance, and inventory levels across one or more stores, Report Toaster: Custom Reports is the superior choice. Its comprehensive reporting capabilities, customization options, and automated delivery features are invaluable for data-driven decision-making. However, for merchants prioritizing customer insights and feedback to improve their customer experience, marketing strategies, and overall business roadmap, Zigpoll Customer Surveys is the more suitable option. Its survey capabilities, ease of use, and AI-powered analytics make it a powerful tool for gathering and acting upon customer feedback. A merchant looking for both should ideally explore integration options between a reporting app and a survey app, and evaluate if the functionality overlap of these two apps is enough for their needs.
Common Questions
What type of data does each app utilize?
Report Toaster uses real-time data directly from your Shopify store, including sales, inventory, and financial data. Zigpoll collects zero-party data directly from customers through surveys.
Can I use both apps together?
While both apps operate within the Shopify ecosystem, they serve different purposes and don't inherently integrate. However, you could potentially use insights from Zigpoll surveys to inform the metrics you track and analyze in Report Toaster. For example, if Zigpoll reveals customer concerns about shipping costs, you could create a Report Toaster report to analyze the impact of shipping costs on conversion rates.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Zigpoll Customer Surveys is generally easier to set up due to its no-code setup and focus on user-friendly survey creation. Report Toaster requires more familiarity with data analysis and report customization, although it offers pre-built report templates to simplify the process.
Which app is better for multi-store businesses?
Report Toaster: Custom Reports is explicitly designed for multi-store businesses, allowing you to report and compare data from multiple shops in a single interface. Zigpoll doesn't specifically mention multi-store support in its description, suggesting it might primarily focus on individual stores.
What if I only need basic reporting functionality?
If you only require basic reporting functionality and don't need highly customized reports or multi-store analysis, Shopify's built-in reporting tools may be sufficient. However, for more advanced reporting and automation, Report Toaster is a worthwhile investment. If you want to get basic customer surveys done, consider using free platforms that are not part of the Shopify ecosystem at all.
