RetainIQ vs WhatsApp Chat Button by ESfor Shopify (2026)
RetainIQ and WhatsApp Chat Button by ES cater to drastically different needs within the Shopify ecosystem, despite sharing the 'Support - Other' category. RetainIQ focuses on personalized marketing automation through email and SMS, targeting brands aiming to increase customer retention and lifetime value. Its strength lies in advanced personalization features, integrating multiple data sources to deliver highly targeted messages. Conversely, WhatsApp Chat Button by ES offers a simple, direct communication channel for merchants to interact with customers via WhatsApp, with the primary goal of increasing sales through immediate customer support. RetainIQ appears to be geared towards larger or more sophisticated e-commerce stores seeking to implement advanced marketing strategies and improve customer loyalty through data-driven personalization. WhatsApp Chat Button by ES serves smaller businesses or those prioritizing immediate, direct customer interaction and sales support. The review data further accentuates this difference: RetainIQ boasts a perfect rating with a substantial number of reviews, suggesting a proven track record and user satisfaction, while WhatsApp Chat Button by ES has no reviews and a zero rating at the time of this analysis, suggesting unknown performance or potential issues. Given the disparity in functionalities and user feedback, merchants should carefully consider their priorities. If a brand desires sophisticated customer retention tools driven by hyper-personalization and advanced data analytics, RetainIQ is the clear choice. However, if the primary goal is to provide immediate customer support and drive sales through direct WhatsApp communication, the WhatsApp Chat Button by ES (or a similar app with better reviews and established history) might be more suitable, assuming the lack of reviews does not indicate a significant issue.

Our Verdict
For e-commerce businesses aiming to build long-term customer relationships through personalized marketing campaigns and data-driven optimization, RetainIQ is the superior choice, contingent on a continued high level of user satisfaction and functionality updates. Its focus on retention and increased customer lifetime value makes it an investment for brands with a clear customer acquisition strategy. However, for startups, very small businesses or those primarily focused on driving immediate sales through direct customer interaction via WhatsApp, an app providing WhatsApp chat functionality is relevant, but given the current lack of reviews, significant due diligence is required before selecting WhatsApp Chat Button by ES, including a thorough review of its code and security and a comparison against competitor apps with stronger user feedback. If the user needs direct and fast support, consider other apps with a higher rating.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
RetainIQ claims to have an easy and quick setup, but its advanced features likely require more configuration. WhatsApp Chat Button by ES, with its simpler functionality, is likely even easier to set up.
Which app is better for increasing customer lifetime value (CLTV)?
RetainIQ is explicitly designed to increase CLTV through personalized email and SMS campaigns. WhatsApp Chat Button by ES can indirectly contribute to CLTV by improving customer satisfaction, but it isn't its primary focus.
Which app is better for large enterprises?
RetainIQ, with its focus on data integration and personalization, is generally better suited for larger enterprises with sophisticated marketing strategies. They are more likely to have the data infrastructure and marketing teams to effectively leverage RetainIQ's features.
Should I choose WhatsApp Chat Button by ES even though it has no reviews?
Proceed with extreme caution. The lack of reviews, especially in 2026, is a significant red flag. Thoroughly research the developer and consider alternative WhatsApp chat apps with established user feedback before making a decision. Verify the apps security practices carefully.
Can these apps be used together?
Yes, they address different aspects of the customer journey. RetainIQ focuses on post-purchase engagement and retention, while WhatsApp Chat Button by ES is primarily for pre-purchase support and sales. A merchant could use both to create a holistic customer experience.
